  Urdukas Air Temperature

A thermohygrometer DMA570 was installed at Urdukas Station. This sensor is manufactured by LSI-Lastem (Italy).The DMA 570 thermohygrometer is an instrument for measuring temperature and relative humidity and suitable for a continuous measurement in severe environments; in presence of deep thermal and hygrometric ranges with high sun radiant heat.

Statement

The automatic weather stations (AWS) for monitoring meteorological conditions are currently included in the SHARE network. An automatic weather station is defined as a "meteorological station at which observations are made and trasmitted automatically" (WMO, 1992 a). In particular, in the framework of the SHARE project for all parameters, the data has been visually checked, looking for extremely and unusual low/high values and/or periods with constant values. The AWS in Urdukas is a reference station in CEOP (Coordinated Energy and water cycle Observation Project) under the WMO's initiative World Climate Research Programme (WCRP) - Global Energy and Water cycles EXperiment (GEWEX).

WMO (1992) defines air temperature as “the temperature indicated by a thermometer exposed to the air in

a place sheltered from direct solar radiation”. Although this definition cannot be used as the definition of the thermodynamic quantity itself, it is suitable for most applications.
