  Pheriche - Automatic Weather Station

An Automatic Weather Station (AWS ) has been installed over the past 10 years in Pheriche (4,260 m a.s.l.) nearby the Pyramid Laboratory-Observatory (5,050 m a.s.l.). The Automatic Weather Station (AWS ) takes hourly measurements of seven standard parameters: temperature, relative humidity, atmospheric pressure, wind speed and direction, global radiation, total precipitation.

Lineage

An automatic weather station (AWS) is defined as a “meteorological station at which observations are made and transmitted automatically” (WMO, 1992a). At an AWS, the instrument measurements are read out or received by a central data-acquisition unit. The AWS guarantee continuous measurements of air temperature, relative humidity, atmospheric pressure, global solar radiation, UVA radiation, wind speed and direction. The technologically advanced AWS instrumentation is developed by the Italian manufacturer LSI-Lastem.
