Purpose
Over the past two decades, measurement campaigns carried out in various areas of the globe, together with satellite observations, have shown the existence of thick clouds in the lower atmosphere characterized by presence of high concentrations of pollutants. These great clouds was given the name of ABC - Atmospheric Brown Clouds and to assess their effects on climate, humans and the environment, the Organization of United Nations Environment Programme within its (United United Nations Environment Programme - UNEP) launched the project of the same name in 2003, Atmospheric Brown Clouds. To provide an accurate description of the characteristics and the composition of the atmosphere in the Himalayas, in March 2006 was promoted by the Nepal Climate Observatory station EvK2Cnr-Pyramid (NCO-P), created through the collaboration of the National Council Italian Research (CNR) and French (CNRS). This Observatory constitutes a privileged point, in the upper Khumbu Valley, to observe the extent of the "Brown Cloud" at 5079 meters altitude on the slopes Everest.
