Portella Climate Observatory Mt. Portella – Central Appennines)
In the framework of SHARE project, in June 2012 the Portella Climate Observatory (OCP) has been installed at 2.401 m a.s.l on Mt. Portella in the Gran Sasso chain in collaboration with University of L’Aquila – CETMPS.
OCP is the highest mountain station of the Apennines, near the Calderone glacier (the southernmost of Europe). It is a strategic site to observe the chemical, physical and climatological changes of the atmosphere in the Mediterranean basin.
